  • PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY. BY ACCESSING THIS WEBSITE YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS BELOW. THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE, FROM TIME TO TIME IN OUR SOLE DISCRETION. WE WILL NOTIFY YOU OF AMENDMENTS TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS BY POSTING THEM TO THIS WEBSITE. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, PLEASE DO NOT ACCESS THIS WEBSITE.
  • HCUND refers to The Hospitality Committee for United Nations Delegations.
  • Silent Auction refers to items donated by third parties to HCUND, the proceeds of which shall be used to support HCUND and its programs.
  • You are invited to take part in the HCUND Online Silent Auction for a chance to bid on Silent Auction items online. By placing a bid on an item in the HCUND Online Silent Auction you will be deemed to have agreed and understood the Rules, Terms and Conditions and to be bound by them.
  • A bid is considered a legal agreement to purchase the listed item(s) at the amount indicated. Each bid shall be final and binding as soon as you click the “Bid Now” button. All bidders must be of 18 years of age or above.
  • As a registered user of the HCUND Online Auction, you may receive or establish a user name and one or more passwords. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your password(s) and Account(s). You understand and agree that you are individually and fully responsible for all actions and postings made from your Account(s). Any accounts you create are not transferrable. You agree to notify HCUND immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your Account(s).
  • The HCUND Online Auction will run between 5pm on Monday 14th October and 3pm Friday 13th December, the “Online Bid Period”. HCUND reserves the right to withdraw, update and add new items to the Online Auction throughout the Online Bid Period as they are donated or bought using the “Buy Now” function. 
  • The Online Auction will close on the evening of the HCUND Ambassadors’ Ball 2019, Friday 13th December at 3pm.  At the Ambassadors’ Ball, Silent Auction bidding will continue in person for guests attending the Ambassadors’ Ball.  If you want to ensure that you are the winning bidder use the “Buy Now” function.
  • The HCUND Silent Auction will close on the evening of the of the Ambassadors’ Ball 2019, Friday 13th December at 11pm.  Except for items previously purchased Online via the “Buy Now” function, the highest bid will be declared the winner. All winning in-person bids must be settled when the auction closes.
  • Online winning bidders not present at the event will be notified by Monday, December 16 via the email provided to HCUND at the time of registering to bid. The notification of winning email will state the payment deadline and provide payment instructions. All accounts must be settled by Wednesday, December 18. In the extreme case of an entry error, please contact HCUND for retraction of your bid. If this occurs, we reserve the right to offer the item to the second highest bidder.
  • All items will be sold only above the minimum asking bid and proceeds go to HCUND.
  • All new bids must be higher than the previous bid by at least the minimum increment listed in the bidding information.
  • The “Buy Now” option enables a bidder to purchase an auction item immediately. After an item has been purchased pursuant to the “Buy Now” function, the item will be designated online as “Sold” and no additional bids will be accepted even by those guests in attendance at the Ambassadors’ Ball.
  • By participating in HCUND Online Auction you agree to pay for and collect any item that is the subject of a successful bid submitted by you online.
  • All Items shown online are marked either “Collection Only”, “Shipping Available” or “Free Shipping Available”.
  • If the item is labelled “Collection Only”, then this item must be collected by the winning bidder from either the donor or outside the UN entrance on 45th Street, at a time agreed by arrangement with the HCUND office. It cannot be shipped or mailed.
  • If the item is labelled “Shipping Available or Collection”, then the winning bidder can choose to pay for shipping or may collect this item from outside the UN entrance on 45th Street, at a time agreed by arrangement with the HCUND office.
  • If the Item is labelled “Free Shipping Available or Collection” then this item will be mailed to the winning bidder or may be collected by the winning bidder from outside the UN entrance on 45th Street, time by arrangement with the HCUND office.
  • Reservations for trips, stays in hotels, ticket redemptions, etc. must be mutually arranged by the winning bidder and the donor.  Blackout periods, expiration dates and restrictions may apply. The utmost care has been taken to note restrictions as accurately as possible; however, the HCUND is not responsible for any typographical errors, accuracy, completeness of the content or restrictions omitted, or not otherwise indicated by the donor, or prizes not claimed within the scope of restrictions or expiration dates.
  • No substitutions or exchanges can be made. Trips are non-transferable and subject to availability and other restrictions as noted by the donor. HCUND does not assume risk or liability or responsibility for the authenticity, quality, or value of the Silent Auction items nor any occurrence resulting from the use of auctioned items and/or services sold.
  • This website may contain links to websites that are operated by third parties. HCUND has no control over such websites and makes no claim or representation regarding, and accepts no responsibility for, the quality, content, nature, or reliability of websites accessible by hyperlink from the Site, or websites linking to the Site. Visitors to such third-party websites should refer to such websites’ respective privacy policies, terms and conditions and practices.
  • Your payment is only tax deductible to the extent that it exceeds the fair market value of the item. Estimates of the fair market values and descriptions are based on information provided by donors for which HCUND assumes no responsibility. 
  • Any participation of HCUND online auction is at your own risk.  Access to and use of online bidding is dependent upon, amongst other things, the availability of the internet and the quality of connections, and HCUND is not responsible for any online bids that fail to register on the Online Auction.
  • Please note that HCUND reserves the right to reject an online bid, withdraw its permission for you to participate in our Online Auction, for any reason at any time prior to, during or after a sale.
  • HCUND offices close on the 20th December 2019 for the winter holiday.  HCUND will endeavour to mail and ship all items paid for by 12pm (Noon) on 19th December 2019 before the office closes. HCUND offices will reopen for all Auction queries, payment and shipping on 15th January 2020.
